Privacy policy

Nearfolk is built to work without an account and without servers of its own. The people you add, your notes and your history stay on your iPhone, encrypted. Contacts are read on the device only, friend features travel inside links, reminders are local, and purchases go through Apple and RevenueCat.

What stays on your iPhone?

The people you add (names, optional phone numbers, birthdays, dates and notes), your circles, reply jar, history of moments and settings are stored only on your device. They are encrypted with a key kept in the iOS Keychain. The developer cannot see them.

How are contacts used?

If you tap Pick from Contacts, iOS shows its own contact picker. Nearfolk receives only the one contact you tap (name, first phone number and birthday) and saves those fields on your device. Nearfolk never reads or uploads your address book.

Can Nearfolk see my messages or calls?

No. The Message and Call buttons open Apple Messages, Phone or the share sheet with text you can edit. Nearfolk cannot read your messages or call history and does not try to. You tell the app what you did, or you leave it unlogged.

What is in a card or link?

When you share a card, its content is written into the link itself, after the # sign. That content is first names or initials, the message you chose and, for recap cards, four numbers. Browsers do not send that part of a link to any web server. Phone numbers, notes and history are never put on a card.

Anyone you send a link to can read what is on it, so choose the words as you would for any message.

What about purchases?

Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple. Nearfolk uses RevenueCat to check whether you have Nearfolk Plus. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history, not your name, email or friends. The app's privacy manifest declares purchase history and a user ID, both not linked to you and not used for tracking. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

Which notifications does it send?

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device: a daily nudge when someone is drifting, birthday and date reminders, one reminder for a reply you added, and an optional reminder before a free trial ends. No push server is involved. When you save a card to Photos, Nearfolk asks only for add-only access.

Is there any tracking, analytics or advertising?

No. Nearfolk contains no analytics SDK, no advertising and no tracking across apps or websites, and it does not use the advertising identifier. The app declares that it does not track you.

How do I control my data, and what about children?

Export your data as a JSON file from Me, then Export my data. Delete everything from Me, then Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes its data. Nearfolk is not directed to children under 13. Questions can go to support@nearfolk.app or to Contact support in the app. See also the support page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nearfolk collect my data?

The developer does not receive your people, notes, history or contacts. They stay on your iPhone, encrypted. Purchases use Apple and RevenueCat with an anonymous ID.

Does Nearfolk upload my address book?

No. It only receives the single contact you pick in the iOS contact picker, and it saves that contact on your device.

Does a shared card go through a server?

The card content sits after the # in the link. Browsers do not send that part to a server, and Nearfolk has no server that stores cards.

Do I need an account?

No. Nearfolk has no accounts.
